The Edmonton Sport Institute has been involved with the provision of lumbar spinal decompression treatments in Northern Alberta since 1996. Disc decompression is a non-surgical treatment option for people suffering from chronic low back or neck pain. Similar to a regular traction table in appearance, the SpineMED Disc Decompression table has been manufactured using a split table design and a computer controlled variable traction intensity that has been shown to develop a negative pressure inside the injured lumbar or cervical discs. It is postulated that this negative pressure promotes the reduction of the size of an existing disc protrusion, as well as creating more fluid accumulation in the damaged degenerative lumbar or cervical discs.
SpineMED disc decompression has a reported 85 percent success rate in reducing symptoms of chronic low back and neck pain.
SpineMED treatment is typically scheduled once a day for 20 days or twice a day for 10 days, whichever is best suited for the patient.
